Edition 1318 of Private Eye has referred to 'a series of regular payments ranging from £1,000 to £1,500 a month from Watermark...to [Denis] Grant.'   Moreover, to the astonishment of local residents, the existence of those payments appears to have been effectively ignored not only by (the now defunct) Joint Committee of district and county councils, but also by Gloucestershire Police during the trial of Dennis Grant.  Cotswold District Council is now being pressed by Cllr Esmond Jenkins for a full investigation into who knew about those 'consultancy fees', and why they were not questioned at the time for creating a conflict of interest.
